It’s time I got back to losing weight again. For so long my weight had been stable – high, but stable. Then it started to increase again and over a period of a month or so it reached a new plateau – 10 kilos more than before!

This is completely unacceptable, of course. Now I have it in my head that I need to something about it, and this is where it begins.

Why Intermittent Fasting?

There are a few reasons that come to mind:

  1. It worked for me before.
  2. It’s been the most reliable diet I’ve ever been on.
  3. It signals a new lifestyle rather than simply a diet.

But if it Failed, Why do it Again?

It failed due to my laziness. I was eating One Meal A Day (OMAD) and was feeling quite content with it. It suited my lifestyle at the time and was actually quite easy because of that.

I was working away from home and actually felt quite bored when I got home from work. I would get some take-out on my way home from work. The office had no on-site eating facilities, so everyone generally ordered Grab Food and ate at their desks. I didn’t bother with that, and this allowed me to maintain my OMAD regime.

Then my contract ended and I went home again, and this was the death knell of my OMAD – I had nothing to occupy myself, so I filled my spare time with snacking. It was too convenient.

So What Will I Do Differently This Time?

Well, I’m working again, so I can quite easily return to my previous eating regime.

Additionally, in recognition of my failure before, I will focus more on making OMAD a habit, but more than that, I must maintain my focus so that I can keep the OMAD habit even as my lifestyle changes. I want OMAD to be a permanent part of my lifestyle from here on in.

So Now That I’ve Decided – What’s My Next Step?

Let’s talk numbers here…
My original plateau was 112kg. This was at least 12kg too high for my liking, but at least it was stable. Then it rose to 123kg which was screamingly high!

My plan now is to get back to OMAD, but properly and permanently. Once I’ve gotten used to this, I will look more closely at nutrition and how to improve the quality of my one meal. Laziness had kicked-in in the past so that I would end up eating awful fast-food for its convenience. I want to be sure this does not happen again.

I will Lock Up The Bull

I’ve tended to go at diets in the past like a bull at a gate. This time I will do things differently; I will build up to my new lifestyle gradually with the understanding that this will be easier to do and will be a surer guarantee of success.
